What are the greatest sci-fi movies of all time? It is extremely difficult to avoid being subjective when telling what your favorite movies are. Art appreciation is contextual, and as any lived experience it often depends on a “where”, a “when”, a “why” and, sometimes, a “who”.  In addition, unless you are a cinema industry professional your advice may sound pretentious or lacking of legitimacy.

That’s why I compared 12 “best sci-fi movies” rankings, besides my own personal list. Next is a list of the 25 best movies based on the average of these rankings (film4.com, rottentomatoes.com, indiewire.com, sensacine.com, ranker.com, imdb.com, popularmechanics.com, timeout.com, Rolling Stone, cinemablend.com, allocine.fr, and SenseCritique.com).
